The Real Estate Marketing Insider released its “Top 3 Reasons” list for the week. This week REMI offered real estate professionals three reasons why every realtor must maintain a blog.
This week, the Tallahassee Democrat announced the top 10 blog posts for its real estate blog. The attention received by the Democrat’s real estate blog confirms that maintaining a blog and updating it often is important for realtors. It can often be difficult to start a blog. The process is intimidating, time-consuming, and many realtors can have trouble figuring out what to write about. Nevertheless, REMI firmly believes that every realtor should keep a blog. Here are three reasons why.
1. It’s free. Thanks to the presence of Wordpress, Tumblr, and many other online services, keeping a blog is free. Opening an account on Wordpress costs no money, and the writer can use the blog as often as he/she likes. No matter how much traffic it generates, the cost never goes up. Serious bloggers can invest a bit of money and develop higher-function blogs or even full websites on Wordpress servers. No matter what, there are no methods of marketing for realtors that offer a better bang for the buck than blogging.
2. The blog can be about anything. There are no limits to what to write about, and one needn’t worry figuring out articles about San Diego rentals on the beach every day. In fact, some might argue that the best thing about a blog is its ability to give a realtor a personality online. Therefore, realtors should just write about what they enjoy. If they’re passionate about real estate, that’s great. But they can also write about topics like hockey, coffee, short stories, or anything else.
3. The potential for marketing is great. Good blogs get traffic from all sorts of people, often in the writer’s local sphere. Attracting people to a real estate blog establishes the realtor as a presence in their lives; perhaps even before they consider buying or selling a home. A realtor can cultivate a fan-following of potential homebuyers, reaching the clientele before they make their buying decision. When they decide to purchase or sell a home, the pre-existing connection with a blogging realtor becomes important. No other form of marketing connects realtors with pre-transaction clients better than blogging.
The Real Estate Marketing Insider announced the publication of its weekly “Top 3 Reasons” feature. This week’s feature provided the top three reasons for realtors to start and maintain a regularly-updated blog, which need not be exclusively about real estate.
