Tibet Ctrip Travel Service, a Lhasa based Tibet tour agency, is now offering Mt. Kailash tours departing from Kathmandu. Every year, there are thousands of spiritual tourists who make the trekking around the Mt. Kailash to cleanse their souls. Beginning in Kathmandu and making the adventure to Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar is a fantastic way to learn about people with different culture backgrounds. Travelers can start the tour with a local Nepalese guide in Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, travelers will be able to explore some of Nepal’s most famous tour destinations. Once travelers explore Kathmandu they will be escorted to Zhangmu, the border of Tibet where travel groups will meet their Tibetan guide and driver.

In Kathmandu the travel group can explore temples and Kathmandu’s Durbar Squares. Once travel groups get to the border Kodari, their Nepali guide will help groups clear the immigration customs, from there it’s a short walk across the China-Nepal Friendship Bridge to meet the Tibetan travel guide. The tour allows for a day of acclimatization in the town of Nyalam before driving to Lake Manasarovar and Kailash. Travelers are advised to relax, drink lots of water, and not over exert themselves while acclimatizing to the Tibet high altitude.

It takes two days time to drive to Mount Kailash from Nyalam. Along the way tourists will have opportunities to shoot pictures of the mountain scenery and they will also see daily Tibetan life. On the second day of the overland trip, pilgrimage travelers will have view to the stunningly beautiful Lake Manasarovar. Once travelers get to Darchen which is the first base camp of Mt. Kailash, it takes about three days to trek around its base. Here travelers will meet pilgrims from all over the world and have plenty of time to ask their Tibetan tour guide questions about the areas importance to Tibetan Buddhists. After completing the Tibet trekking portion of the tour, the group will wind its way toward Lhasa making a stop in Shigatse to see Tashilhunpo Monastery and a stop in Gyantse to see the Kumbum Pagoda and Pelkhor Monastery.

Before the trip ends, tourists will visit the most famous Lhasa tour sites such as Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Bazaar. Additionally travelers can have a customized Tibet trip according to their personal needs and interests. Many choose to visit famous monasteries such as Sera Monastery, Ganden Monastery and Samye Monastery. Samye Monastery was one of the oldest Buddhism monasteries in Tibet and it was located in Yarlung Valley which is the cradle of Tibetan civilization. Engaging with local culture means a lot to any travelers and it is an important part of any travel experience. With a Nepali guide while in Nepal and Tibetan tour guide in Tibet travelers will enjoy the real authentic perspective on the places they see.
