According to an article iGotya App Sends Pic to Stolen iPhone's Owner, the image of a woman who tried to unlock a stolen mobile phone was sent to the owner. The image was sent directly to the owner automatically as the owner had the new app iGotya installed on the mobile. It is not possible to know from the photograph if that is the person who stole the phone but it maps their location and sends that information along with the photo.
The report stated that Sussex Police described the app as “rather cool” because it takes pictures when anyone tries to unlock the phone, logs their location and sends the information on to the owner by email.
