Tiger Bookstore, a University of Memphis provider of textbooks, gifts and Memphis Tigers apparel, has expanded its e-commerce services to meet the demands of a growing online audience.

On the new TigerBookstore.com, customers can find an array of University of Memphis themed products include clothing, accessories, gifts, tailgating supplies and more. For Tiger Bookstore’s web coordinator Tracy Shipp, the expanded ecommerce services provide an exciting opportunity to reach Memphis Tigers fans nationwide.

“For almost 50 years, we have offered an unmatched selection of Memphis Tigers gear in our store,” Shipp said. “Our new online offerings give us a chance to serve all Tiger fans both locally and nationwide.”

Since expanding its ecommerce offerings, Tiger Bookstore has seen substantial increases in sales during peak, holiday shopping times. Online sales for the month of November saw a 250% increase over last year’s sales in same month. For Cyber Monday, the peak online shopping day, the retailer had a 1500% boom when compared to the same day in 2011.

To kick off the holiday sales period, Tiger Bookstore offered deals on orders placed online and in the Memphis retail location. Customers who placed orders of $75 or more on TigerBookstore.com received free economy shipping. Both online and in-store shoppers received a $10 gift card for every $75 dollars spent.

In addition to the specials, the company has increased its social media presence and started a blog. For Shipp, social media had a substantial impact on the increase in holiday sales.

“Social media gives us the opportunity to directly connect with our customers nationwide,” she said. “Offering Black Friday and Cyber Monday specials on Facebook, Twitter and showing off our products on Pinterest definitely contributed to the increase in online sales.”
