More than 5,000 people were diagnosed with lymphoma – the most common form of blood cancer – in Florida last year alone. To raise critical funds for blood cancer research, the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – will host its Seventh Annual South Florida Luncheon on January 14, 2013 at St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida. To-date, the luncheon has raised more than $800,000 to support the Lymphoma Research Foundation’s mission to eradicate lymphoma and serve those touched by the disease.

“The Lymphoma Research Foundation’s Annual South Florida Luncheon raises critical funds for lymphoma research,” said Gladys Cook, one of the co-chairs for the event. “As the wife of a lymphoma survivor, this event is particularly meaningful to me; I am hopeful that this year’s Luncheon will bring us over the $1 million dollars-raised mark and will enable the Foundation to support research that can bring us closer to finding a cure for lymphoma.”

The Lymphoma Research Foundation has partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue Boca Raton to present a fashion show, which will feature the Best of Spring 2013, as well as an onsite boutique. “Saks Fifth Avenue is proud to donate 10 percent of the event's sales to benefit the Lymphoma Research Foundation,” said John Antonini, Vice President General Manager, Saks Fifth Avenue Boca Raton. “The Lymphoma Research Foundation’s Luncheon has become such an important event for the community and Saks Fifth Avenue Boca Raton is delighted to support the Foundation’s efforts to fight this type of blood cancer.”

The charity event, which has now become a staple in the affluent South Florida region, is co-chaired by Judith Bronsteen, Gladys Cook, Elisabeth Dalfen, Ellen Liebman, Mitzi Oreman and Jane Yudell. Dr. Craig Moskowitz, Clinical Director of the Division on Hematologic Oncology; Attending Physician and Lymphoma and Adult BMT Services Member at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer; and Professor of Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, will serve as the event’s keynote speaker.

“The Luncheon committee is honored to partner with Saks Fifth Avenue Boca Raton and we look forward to raising significant funds to support lymphoma research, so that we can ultimately find a cure for this devastating disease,” said Judith Bronsteen, one of the Luncheon co-chairs.

All those interested are invited to attend this inspiring social event, which begins at 10:30 am at St. Andrews Country Club. Individual tickets for the luncheon start at $125 each. Event and raffle tickets can be purchased by phoning Taylor Zitay at (646) 465-9103. All proceeds from the event will support LRF’s mission to eradicate lymphoma and serve those touched by the disease.
