On January 3, Spartan representative Carrie Adams comments on Sarah Keddel’s first time experience at a Spartan Race in Tuxedo Ridge and how that mud run changed her life.
According to the blog from [Spartan Race, the Tuxedo Ridge Spartan race was Sarah’s first mud run obstacle course. Sarah thought, “it would be an obstacle course similar to the one [she] did in military basic training back in 2002.” She figured it would be an “easy” and forgettable experience.
The blog continues to state how Sarah, “could not have been more wrong.” The Spartan Race took Sarah longer than she expected and made her realize the amount of training needed to overcome such a mud run, realizing her “little bit of maintenance work [she] did at the local gym” was not adequate. From then on, Sarah adapted her school and work schedule around Spartan Races while incorporating school into training for future mud runs, as stated in the article.
Sarah continued to explain, “As time passed and the races grew longer and more difficult, I grew stronger.” She completed the VT Spartan Beast, because of her “knowledge and strength”, and changed her view on life. Each Spartan Race was fun for her, making new friends and becoming “physically, mentally and emotionally stronger.”
Adams comments on her experience. “Spartan Race is more than just an obstacle course mud run. It takes a great amount of endurance and commitment to complete one, making it a challenging but rewarding experience. I am glad to see how Spartan Race has changed Sarah’s life and the friendship she found from them as well.”
