The U.S. Jobs Report published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm) on Friday shows the economic recovery to be continuing to grow overall at the same scale, though the growth and decline among several industry sectors remain quite disparate. Friday’s U.S. Jobs Report showed that the economy added 3,800 jobs in Architecture and Engineering Services in December, though Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction lost about 700 jobs.
However, the fact that the employment situation in the Architecture and Engineering services sector is continuing to improve and not decline, is borne out by the number of architecture jobs and related engineering jobs posted on Architecture Crossing over December. In November, according to the BLS, US Jobs Report, Architectural and Engineering services added about 3,000 jobs, so in December the scene is quite a bit better at 3,800 jobs.
Harrison Barnes, the CEO of Architecture Crossing said, “The growth was bound to drop after the huge addition of about 27,000 jobs in October in the Architectural and Engineering services. And it’s a relief that instead of petering out totally or going on a negative curve, jobs and the employment situation in the sector is inching up after a steep rise in October and a subsequent plunge in November.”
The numbers of job openings in the various Architecture related jobs posted on Architecture Crossing confirms the economic trends to be continuing in the respective sectors. Right now, as of the beginning of 2013, there are 1,920 live Architecture jobs on Architecture Crossing, with 389 jobs having been added within the last week, and 1,451 jobs added over the last one month. The addition of job openings over the last month provides a clear idea that architecture jobs are still on the path of growth and doing better than many other industry sectors.
