About the Author
Carol Phillips was born in Chicago on June 2, 1924. She grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin and returned to Chicago for nursing school during the Second World War. She completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees at UNC-CH with help from her children. Her nursing career has been in a number of fields including teaching in Durham and Fiji. She facilitated classes on “Great Books” and “Reading Shakespeare” at OLLI, the school for older adults at Duke. Her great adventure was living in Fiji as a Peace Corps volunteer for two years. She has always been an avid reader and has written short stories for her family and friends. She now lives in Durham, N.C.
