Time to Tell the Truth by Dorothy Bree Epperson is a stirring book of a tough woman who fought her way out of domestic violence. She discloses her personal experience in the hands of her abusive husband and depicts her sentiments in emotive poetry which contain her emotions and the inspiring message she sends out to abused women.

According to the Center for Violence-Free Relationships, a woman is assaulted by her partner every nine seconds in the United States of America which accounts to over four million victims a year. Despite the fact that domestic violence and toxic relationships are painful topics for the author, this book discloses her personal experience in the hands of her sadistic husband. Readers will shed a tear or two in this dramatic biography, along with the poignant poems, as they become absorbed in thought in the recollection of these unpleasant events. The anguish and pain are preserved in this stunning personal story.

At the tender age of 19, Epperson ended up living with her abuser in entrapment from 1979 to 1990. She went through a detrimental experience. Her husband put her through all forms of inhumane torment even during her vulnerable pregnant state. Beaten up, held at gunpoint and had her throat slit, she continued to keep her silence as a typical woman would normally do. It took her a considerably long period of time to finally breakaway from the chains of maltreatment after being beaten up with a broom causing her to temporarily lose her memory.

The most efficient weapon to put an end to domestic violence is awareness. In her debut book Time to Tell the Truth, Epperson encourages other women suffering in silence to break away from maltreatment and speak up.
