With so many possible distractions for those wanting to initiate positive change in the form of resolutions at the beginning of the new year, sometimes we need a little nudge

Montreal, QC (PRWEB) January 10, 2013

According to StatisticsBrain.com, roughly 45% of people start the new year with a New Year's resolution. Within the first week, roughly 25% abandon their pursuit; 35% give up within the first month.

The initiative put forth by PracticeWhatUWant.com is to challenge these statistics and help motivate more people to maintain and achieve their resolutions in 2013. From love to health, to wealth and beyond, subscribers may find in this new interactive experience further motivation to stick to their New Year's resolutions.

Specific visualization tools provide subscribers with a dynamic platform where they can practice the accomplishment of their goals by posting images, videos, stories and sharing personal experiences to help inspire others. A unique feature of the site is the progress tracking tool, where users can view a percentage score estimate of how close they are to achieving their goal. This is calculated based on an algorithm that considers various user interaction measures throughout the site.

The project’s mantra, to practice what you want, is loosely based on Malcolm Gladwell’s concept – the 10,000 hour rule, where it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become world class at any skill. The site’s goal is to significantly shorten that time-frame by merging the message of motivational speakers, encouraging the adage that practice makes perfect, and creating a space for people to focus on what they want and interact with the site and like-minded individuals.

Geoffrey Reid, the founder, defines his project as “the will to create a global community of people who share the desire to accelerate the achievement of success, and to inspire them to discover their passions and chase their dreams. With so many possible distractions for those wanting to initiate positive change in the form of resolutions at the beginning of the new year, sometimes we need a little nudge”.
