“Many are invited, but few are chosen,” according to the Gospel of Matthew. The nature of salvation is a topic fraught with debate in modern Christianity. Christ’s most essential teachings remain unclear to many believers, and those who have never heard of the Good News are completely in the dark when it comes to the Lord’s designs. Former Marine Steven B. Mattison addresses these spiritual issues in Taken by Faith, where he studies the Scriptures extensively in order to bring the message of the Lord to readers everywhere, and enlighten them on the truth of His Word.

Through the verses of the New Testament and the lessons of Christ, Mattison reveals the truth of how God chooses those who He accepts into His kingdom, and how one must repent from a life of sin and find one’s purpose in His plan to become worthy of His grace. Mattison emphasizes the importance of faith over worldly deeds, the forgiveness of sin, and the folly of passing judgment upon others, quoting passages from the Scripture that are vital to living a Christian life in modern times. Though Christ died more than two thousand years ago, Taken by Faith is solid proof of how His life, His word and His sacrifice remain more relevant than ever today.

“This book serves as an introduction to the topic of the basic things that God is looking for in a person to take them from being ‘invited’ to ‘chosen,’” Mattison shares. Christian readers studying the teachings of Christ, and those with an interest in religious discourses, will find Taken by Faith an intense and spiritually significant reading experience.
