Written by author Alexander Askanas, this provocative and action-packed story describes the perilous adventures of its main character, who struggled through the intricate web of betrayal, blackmail and underground operations during one of the most crucial and devastating times in Polish past.
During World War II, Poland was one of the many countries that had undergone tremendous oppression under the hands of the Nazi regime. In this book, this tyranny is highlighted as readers takes an up-close and personal glimpse into the realities of a Polish man who tries to escape the atrocities bestowed upon those who refused to submit to Nazi rule.
David, a fighter in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising during the spring of the year 1943, escapes after the fall of the uprising, and hides on the "Aryan" side with the help of his teacher and high school friends. Joining the Underground Organization together with his Polish friends, he fights during the Warsaw Uprising in the summer of 1944, and later in a partisan unit. With his family perished in the death camp, there is controversy as to the whereabouts of his brother Stefan but a series of capricious twists and turns eventually reveals the new-found identity of his estranged sibling.
