“Because these are high demand occupations, we have a growing number of students who want to earn a diploma in these skilled-trade areas. “

Two of the hot manufacturing jobs of the future are CNC Machinists and Industrial Maintenance Mechatronics Technicians. And while plenty of people want to learn how to do these high-demand jobs, the Precision Manufacturing Institute (PMI) in Meadville, Pa. is having a hard time finding instructors to teach courses it offers in these two popular manufacturing disciplines.
“Because these are high demand occupations, we have a growing number of students who want to earn a diploma in these skilled-trade areas, “said Chuck Guiste, Executive Director of PMI. “But we are having a hard time finding qualified CNC and Mechatronics instructors in our area to teach courses for our diploma programs.”
To find suitable candidates, Guiste said PMI recently posted job listings on Monster.com and is also reaching out to some of the Midwest’s manufacturing hot-beds like Pittsburgh and Erie in Pennsylvania; Buffalo, N.Y.; Detroit; and Ohio cities like Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton, Toledo and Youngstown.
Guiste said PMI is looking for someone with five years or more of experience as a CNC Machinist or Mechatronics Industrial Technician with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
“Obviously going from being a machinist or technician to an instructor is not a job change everyone can make," Guiste said. "But for the right person it could be a great opportunity to make a career change and help us prepare the next generation of skilled tradespeople in these hot job categories."
Guiste said while PMI is looking for full-time candidates, he will also consider qualified part-time instructors to help fill the void his training center currently faces.
In addition to a competitive salary, the full-time positions also come with a complete benefits package, including health, dental, vision, prescription coverage and a 403(b) retirement account.
To apply for these positions, interested candidates can link to http://www.monster.com and search for the PMI job listings for CNC Machinist Instructor-Trainer (http://jobview.monster.com/GetJob.aspx?JobID=117799085) or Mechatronics Instructor-Trainer (http://jobview.monster.com/GetJob.aspx?JobID=117798969).
Founded in 1987, the Precision Manufacturing Institute, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 industrial training center, offers diploma and training programs designed to provide students with the theory and hands-on instruction necessary to begin a career in manufacturing. Each diploma program offers concentrated lessons in a specific manufacturing discipline, allowing students to train and enter the workforce in a timely manner.
In addition to its career training programs, PMI also offers manufacturers with customized training solutions for their employees in areas that include Technical Theory, Machining, CAD/CAM Software, Mechatronics, Welding, Safety and Leadership.
