Eating a wide variety of foods naturally high in fiber like vegetables, fruits and whole grains and supplementing with an all-natural psyllium fiber supplement like Konsyl is the healthiest and most effective way to increase your fiber intake.

Easton, MD (PRWEB) January 14, 2013

According to a recent article in NewHope360 releasing the results of a 2011 survey by the International Food Information Council, 72 percent of Americans have reported trying to consume more fiber, with 87 percent of participants acknowledging that fiber is an important part of their diet(1). The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends that adults get 25-38 grams of fiber per day, and while according to the survey most consumers understand the benefits of fiber, the average American only gets nearly half of the recommended amount.

Consumers now more than ever are looking for ways to boost their fiber intake with 47 percent of consumers now consciously reading product labels for fiber content and purchasing fiber-based products in an effort to add more fiber to their diets. According to registered dietitian Keri Glassman, not all “fiber products” are created equal and consumers should be aware of the healthiest ways to increase fiber intake.

“Eating a wide variety of foods naturally high in fiber like vegetables, fruits and whole grains and supplementing with an all-natural psyllium fiber supplement like Konsyl is the healthiest and most effective way to increase your fiber intake,” explains Glassman, who has joined Konsyl Pharmaceuticals in their efforts to help educate consumers on the importance of dietary fiber for overall health.

According to Glassman, fiber may help lower LDL, or “bad cholesterol”, levels helping to prevent heart disease, which was a top priority for participants in the International Food Information Council survey, with 69% listing heart health as “very important.” Increasing fiber intake will also help to effectively manage weight, promote bowel health, as well as manage blood sugar levels and insulin sensitivity.

“For people who need to add more soluble fiber to their diet to lower cholesterol without adding unwanted calories, adding a natural fiber supplement like Konsyl Original Formula is a great option,” said Glassman.

Konsyl Original Formula is the number one doctor-recommended, all-natural psyllium fiber supplement in the country. It’s made of 100% psyllium, an all-natural type of soluble fiber that is derived from plants and is gluten free with no sugar or sugar substitutes. Konsyl Original Formula has 75% more fiber per serving than other leading brands, with 6 grams of psyllium fiber per serving—equal to 3 grams of soluble fiber.
