Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (PRWEB) January 14, 2013
The providers of the Coast2Coast Rx card today announced that residents of North Carolina’s Buncombe County have saved more than $4 million on prescription drug costs since March 2010 by using its free prescription discount card. The card also generates income for county programs— $1.25 each time it is used to fill a prescription.
Coast2Coast Rx is the no-cost, comprehensive program endorsed by the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners and by about 280 governmental entities nationwide, offering savings of up to 75 percent on thousands of prescriptions and additional health services. Recently, Coast2Coast Rx announced that consumers, regardless of their insurance status, can use the card to save up to 30 percent on seasonal flu vaccines at participating pharmacies; a feature that makes the card especially useful during the winter cold and flu season.
The card’s ability to create income for county programs for every prescription filled is what sets Coast2Coast Rx apart from other discount prescription cards. This unique feature of the program comes at no expense to card users or the county, a reason that the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners endorsed the program, effectively helping constituents to reinvest in their community through the easy-to-use program.
Everyone is immediately eligible to use the plan—there are no eligibility requirements or restrictions on age, health status or income. Residents can simply pick up a card from locations around their county or download and print a card from the Coast2Coast website, with no membership paperwork or enrollment period. The card offers discounts on more than 60,000 brand name drugs at 59,000+ participating pharmacies, including most major chains and many independent establishments. Through partner programs, the card can also be used for discounts on diabetes supplies, pet prescriptions and some veterinary care, and services such a lab and imaging, and vision, dental and hearing care. For the uninsured or underinsured, the card can provide access to the prescriptions and health care services they may need, although those with insurance can also use the card to help offset the cost of high deductibles. In some cases the card can even help relieve costs of the Medicare Part D “donut hole.”
“We developed the Coast2Coast Rx card to help consumers save significantly on their prescriptions and health care needs as a means of better managing their health and finances,” said Chief Marketing Officer Marty Dettelbach of Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc., the company that provides the discount prescription card. “Buncombe County is utilizing the program to benefit the community-at-large.”
Consumers are invited to add Coast2Coast Rx to their social networks on Facebook and Twitter for updates and to join in the conversation. Buncombe County residents will find the free card available to print at http://www.coast2coastrx.com/counties/nc/buncombe/.
