New York, NY (PRWEB) January 14, 2013
MID Retail Inc. today announced that it has developed Virtual Warehousing capabilities in partnership with its client Urban Outfitters, Inc. The Virtual Warehousing feature set is now generally available as part of the company’s best-in-class MID Retail Advanced Allocation software solution.
“We were looking for a better way to maintain items in stock for store locations with high volume and a small footprint. MID Retail provided the solution,” said Denise Albright, COO of Anthropologie North America, an Urban Outfitters brand. She added, “With MID Retail’s Virtual Warehousing, we expect to see a reduction in lost sales and an increase in service levels for our customers. MID’s team and technology adapts quickly to enable our new merchandising strategies.”
Virtual Warehousing allows retailers to plan for and to designate virtual inventory that is dedicated to a particular store location. The inventory can physically be housed anywhere – including a traditional distribution center, a temporary facility, or the back room of an existing store location. MID Retail’s Advanced Allocation uses automated allocation workflows to distribute stock from virtual inventory on an as-needed basis, making sure customers find the items they want in the most trafficked store locations.
“We were thrilled to partner with Urban Outfitters to make a breakthrough in retail merchandise planning and allocation,” said Chuck Miller, a Founder and Executive at MID Retail. “Virtual Warehousing represents another customer-driven capability that we are proud to offer to MID Retail’s entire customer base.”
MID Retail will be exhibiting its entire suite of Advanced Merchandise Planning and Allocation software at the NRF 102nd Annual Convention and Expo at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, January 14 – 15, in New York City.
