ETA’s annual Education Forum, a world-class technical education conference, is the ideal venue for both professional and curriculum development, regardless of skill level, focusing this year’s Education Forum on Industrial Electronics.
Education Forum is the focal point for technical and educational professionals to discover emerging technologies, network and collaborate with fellow technicians and educators, have access to training and speaking sessions with industry experts, gain continuing education credits, and discuss classroom implementation strategies.
ETA has commitments from industry leaders for the 2013 Education Forum to provide training workshops including American Technical Publishers, Corning Cable Systems, and The Light Brigade. A recent market analysis report predicts that the number of high bandwidth subscribers -- those receiving speeds of 100 megabits per second up to a gigabit per second -- will grow rapidly with total investments in fiber to the home over the next 5 years predicted to be $18 billion. This, in turn, will become an increasingly important market niche for designers and installers, making ETA fiber optics certifications invaluable.
Bridging the Workforce Skills Gap is a top priority to ETA International. Over the last few years, many recruiters have voiced their concerns that job applicants do not have the basic soft skills required by the companies they represent. In order to address this issue, ETA will be conducting a Customer Service Specialist class with the opportunity to take the CSS certification examination. Though developed to meet the role of an evolving service oriented electronics technician, CSS is relevant to every industry, employer and employee. Topics covered include: safety, ethics, respect, teamwork, communication, telephone and email techniques, problem solving, interpersonal relations, and sales and marketing.
Also this year will be an Associate Certified Electronics Technician preparation class with the opportunity to schedule the AST certification examination. ETA certification examinations can be scheduled to be taken during the Education Forum. Exam sessions must be scheduled in advance by calling 800-288-3824.
Who should attend: Technicians from around the world concerned with current industry trends, emerging technologies and educational opportunities; Industry trainers and managers who want to gain insight from both technicians and educators; Workforce development personnel from government, labor, and business who are involved in shaping electronics programs; Faculty in technology programs who want to gain knowledge about new technologies and how to expand existing programs; and College representatives, program development specialists, and counselors who are interested in creating and maintaining electronics programs and in developing strategies for recruiting students.
Advantages of attending Education Forum include: Affordable Registration Rates, Hands-on Technical Training Workshops, Sponsorship and Exhibiting Opportunities, Networking, Professional and Curriculum Development Opportunities, Engaging and Informative Presentations, and Ability to Earn Continuing Education Credits towards Certification Maintenance or Renewal.
