Gladinet Cloud provides simplicity and flexibility with control.

Services like Dropbox have become popular for many good reasons including simplicity, ease of use, and low cost. However, despite their popularity, many enterprises struggle with the loss of control over their data. According to Jerry Huang, Gladinet’s CEO, “Enterprises choose Gladinet because they get all the convenience, cost savings and other benefits of cloud storage, while maintaining control over their data and the infrastructure used to access it. Furthermore, our new Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) will allow a customer to deploy the solution in Amazon EC2 in minutes with zero setup.”

With Gladinet’s solutions, a customer can start out using a public service where the access infrastructure and online storage are hosted by Gladinet. However, they have the freedom to change cloud storage service providers. So, if they discover that Google Cloud Storage has become the most compliant provider or has a better story for data protection, it is very easy to switch.

Furthermore, a customer can deploy the Gladinet solution completely on-premise. This is useful for government, healthcare or other solutions that require data to remain within an organization’s virtual borders.

Huang summarizes, “Gladinet Cloud has three architectural components. They are the clients, access infrastructure and cloud storage. Unlike other access solution providers, we give our customers the flexibility to use any cloud storage service, or their own network storage (SAN, NAS, etc…) and choose where the access infrastructure will reside. That access infrastructure can be deployed on-premise, by a service provider, or it can be hosted by Gladinet. And with the addition of our AMI packages, the solution can be hosted in Amazon EC2 and controlled by the customer.”

Huang continued to cite a few examples, “We had a customer who was a service provider utilizing less than 100% of their available SAN storage. They were able to use Gladinet Cloud Enterprise to provision the unused storage as cloud storage for their customers. We also had a healthcare service provider who needed to provide archiving services in a private cloud. Using Gladinet Cloud Enterprise, individual institutions were able to maintain full control of their data as they leveraged the private cloud. These and many other examples highlight the range of utility provided by our products when it comes to providing cloud storage with data control.”
