The smaller-form USB connector types are of immense importance in this increasingly mobile world. But over time improperly bending a cable at the connection point will ruin expensive equipment.
North Andover, MA (PRWEB) January 21, 2013
L-com, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of wired and wireless connectivity products, has released two new USB 2.0 right angle adapters, these ones having male to female versions of the USB mini B5 connector and the micro B connector. The new adapters are each available in two right angle configurations to offer a controlled 90 degree bend in either direction.
The USB mini B5 and micro B connectors are growing in popularity for their compact size. They are featured more often on mobile devices and tablet computers, allowing the advantages of USB connectivity and powering even on small devices. In tight space applications, however, a tight right angle can damage the connectors on straight cable assemblies and eventually damage the port on the device. These adapters solve this issue by providing an angle without straining the connection.
"The smaller-form USB connector types are of immense importance in this increasingly mobile world," said Steve Smith, Product Manager. "But over time improperly bending a cable at the connection point will ruin expensive equipment. These new products serve to protect against this."
The new adapters come in two "exit" types, each exit bending in the opposite direction. Close-up images, 2D engineering drawings, and 3D CAD models are available on L-com's website to help identify the proper exit type for an application. The items are currently stocked in L-com's North Andover, MA, warehouse for same-day shipping.
