Daily Fit Log, a provider of web-based software for K-12 health and physical education programs, has partnered with BalanceME weight loss camps to provide campers and families access to Daily Fit Log's tracking software. Daily Fit Log’s software allows students to plan, record, and monitor their physical activity and caloric intake. Campers and their families from both BalanceME weight loss camp California and weight loss camp Massachusetts have access to the software and trained how to utilize the Daily Fit Log programs to track success at camp and continued success at home.
DailyFitLog.com was officially launched in September of 2010, and as of June of 2012, 124 schools across 26 states and two continents have registered for the program, generating over 5,000 student accounts. Along with sustaining steady user growth, Daily Fit Log (DFL) have secured corporate partnerships with FILA, the New Jersey Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NJAHPERD), as well as the internet based magazine Philly Health Watch.
“Daily Fit Log provides our weight loss campers with a way to accurately record their fitness performance and food choices,” said John Gordon, CEO of BalanceME weight loss camps. “Daily Fit Log is appealing to BalanceME campers because it’s easy to use, can be accessed by campers and their families once they return home, and gives adolescents simple graphics and charts that explain their progress. In the end, Daily Fit Log will help us teach campers healthier lifestyle habits for lasting weight loss success.”
Though the program was initially created to be used in school settings, Daily Fit Log chose to work with BalanceME because of similar ideologies about the importance of lifelong fitness. The skills being taught at BalanceME as part of their ME Plan are directly in line with DFL’s core mission - to create more accountable lifetime consumers of physical activity.
“Through our partnership, Daily Fit Log will continue to work with BalanceME to track campers’ physical activity habits as they take advantage of DFL’s tools for self-assessment, goal setting, planning, and tracking to help campers reach their fitness goals,” said Timothy A. Palek, President and Co-Founder of Daily Fit Log. “These tools will enable BalanceME staff members to track campers’ activity even after they have left camp, allowing BalanceME to keep a careful watch over their activity levels throughout the entire year. This tracking will allow BalanceME to provide a superior service to their campers to ensure the healthy habits being taught over the summer are being utilized throughout the year.”
In order to help campers and their families learn about the Daily Fit Log software, every BalanceME employee is given training on every facet of the program, and must demonstrate competencies on using the software prior to campers arriving. Camper families are also provided training during their child’s summer weight loss camp stay so they will know how to access their children’s health and fitness progress while at BalanceME and when they return home.
The Daily Fit Log program is an important component of BalanceME’s comprehensive ME Plan for Home that enables campers to continue their physical, emotional, and fitness progress at home.
“Everything we do at BalanceME weight loss camps for kids and teens is designed to develop skills, self-confidence, and motivation for continued success at home,” continued Mr. Gordon, “Daily Fit Log is a critical part of how we help our campers continue their health changes.”
