Lexington, NC (PRWEB) January 18, 2013

Lexington, North Carolina’s Weathervane Winery is proud to announce the release of two new dry red wines from their local winery this month. Owner, Sid Proctor, is excited to include the new additions, Snowdrift and Temperature Rising, to their already impressive collection of white, red, and sweet wines.

Snowdrift is a Tempranillo; a type of wine with Spanish and Portuguese ancestry. Proctor says almost every Spanish wine is a Tempranillo at its core. Snowdrift offers moderate tannins, and has a wide range of aromas. Tasting notes range from strawberries, black currants, and cherries, to prunes, chocolate, and tobacco. Snowdrift is a light American oak and is low in acid. This wine will not be repeated, and for just $20 a bottle, would be a nice addition to any wine collection.

Temperature Rising is the second new release red wine. Weathervane’s website describes the wine’s ability to raise your temperature, calling it “like liquid Viagra!” Temperature Rising is a luscious, rich, Super Tuscan style wine. With a velvety quality, this wine features a bold, but easing blend of Italian virilities, and is $15 a bottle. Proctor says, “This wine is not for the weak-hearted!”

This month, Weathervane Winery is also hosting a chili cook off for the pro football championship on January 27. Local chili chefs are cooking their special recipes for bragging rights for best chili. From one to five p.m., patrons are invited to come by the winery for wine tasting, a free sample, and to cast votes for their favorite.
