In his new Christian novel, “Pathways” (published by WestBow Press), author Ron Bruce tells the story of two people in their early 20s who hit rock bottom. With help from each other and God, they work to overcome their obstacles to achieve redemption.
“Pathways” asks readers to consider what happens when someone’s life reaches a low point. The story follows Mike and Sarah, two young people who, although strangers, embark on a spiritual quest together.
Mike is a failed baseball player. With his dreams crushed, he feels like the entire world is against him. Elsewhere, Sarah lives an ideal life. However, she loses everything when her mother and best friend pass away while Sarah is in college. On a chilly beach in the middle of the night, Mike and Sarah meet in a chance encounter, and their lives are transformed forever. The meeting marks the beginning of their journey along the path to redemption.
“Pathways” touches on difficult themes which have touched many people’s lives – alcoholism, death, suicide, self doubt and family problems. Bruce hopes to offer readers dealing with similar issues a bit of hope and encouragement by showing how two people overcome these problems.
“Even in our darkest hours God is shining His light into our lives,” he says.
