Columbus, OH (PRWEB) January 22, 2013

Step By Step, Inc., one of the nation’s most highly regarded autism treatment centers, based in central Ohio, announced today that it has implemented a new web-based therapy management software system to provide best-in-practice outcomes for its clients with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. The software, called ABA WebTech, which was co-developed by Step By Step’s executive director, Michele LaMarche, BCBA, is being used to serve students on its campus, in remote facilities and in school district-based intensive behavior intervention classrooms by providing a technology-based treatment management tool for educators and providers.

ABA WebTech is a software tool that utilizes the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) and allows clinicians, caregivers and teachers to more easily develop, implement, closely monitor and modify customized treatment plans for each of their clients receiving ABA intervention. ABA WebTech incorporates some very powerful features, one of which allows for remote monitoring of progress through its mobile device to web-based program. The system also automatically flags areas of difficulty to ensure that any adjustments in treatment are made in real time.

Through its cloud-based format, ABA WebTech was designed to make providing support to remote locations, including IBI classrooms, much easier. As a tool, its interface can be accessed from anywhere there is an Internet connection.

“Since the system is web-based, we can access all of the information within a patient’s record any time of day from any of our locations, including any of our interactive classrooms at each of the district’s we serve,” said LaMarche. “

This data tracking system has been implemented by SBSA in the various school districts it partners with to deliver intensive intervention therapy in the students’ respective schools.

In addition to having access to a student’s record, ABA WebTech users can customize educational goals and parameters specific to the student's need. ABA WebTech makes the process of monitoring student progress simple and easy for teachers and caregivers, and it allows them to see the areas in which they need to make changes to learning and treatment protocols.

“ABA WebTech is also designed to pair perfectly within the education environment,” said LaMarche. “The system was designed with several capabilities in mind, including the ability to customize the skills catalog to fit a student’s individual learning needs and help students reach superior outcomes in education and in their lives.”

Teachers can also create their own curriculum to be shared across all students entered into the system. Users can set up 12 months’ worth of projected treatment goals for a student then monitor the student's acquisition of the skill development remotely.

The development and implementation of the ABA WebTech therapy management system by Step By Step marks the organization’s continued commitment in the use of leading-edge technology solutions to achieve the highest level outcomes.

Step By Step demonstrated its success as a leader in technology innovation by being selected as a winner of the 2011 Nonprofit IT Creativity Award for Training & Education. The organization has also partnered with Special Learning, Inc., a leading global provider of mobile and web-based technology solutions for the ASD population, to host the second annual Touch Technology conference in August 2013 in Chicago. This international conference is a central gathering place for the foremost industry thought leaders, developers of mobile technology applications, and professionals, educators and parents seeking the most appropriate apps that can be used to address specific needs for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.
