YMCAs across the country believe the best place to start is where children look for quick snacks. Michelle Valency, Director of Locations at Fresh Healthy Vendings extremely excited about the rapid expansion of this program in the YMCA’s across the country. Many YMCAs have seen the benefits of the program immediately. “There is so much synergy between what we at Fresh Healthy Vending and YMCA stand for”, says Valency.
When members attend the YMCA, vending machines are now filled with fresh organic juices flavors such as fruit punch, orange, coconut, lemon and grape. Add to that, veggie drinks, iced tea, fruit cups, organic bars soy puddings, organic cookies, wheat crackers, baked chips, granola bars and twenty or so other healthy snacks and drinks. “All products in the vending machines are healthy and good alternatives for those trying to lose weight or simply stay healthy” says Valency. “The best part of this amazing business concept is that franchise owners install the vending machines with no cost to the YMCA and the YMCAs receive a percentage of the profit each machine achieves while completing their mission to improve health of their members”.
The Chippewa Falls YMCA coordinator, Jennifer Sherbinow, Executive Director, was quoted as saying. “The Y is happy to be able to offer the Fresh and Healthy Vending option. Many of our kids have used the machine and were very excited when it was put in! The Y wants to have snacks to offer kids after school but this gives exciting options for kids as well as adults. We are also very happy with the variety of selections in the machines also. There is something for everyone!
David Anderson of Red Wing YMCA in Minnesota offered. “As an organization that is promoting healthy living, we are very happy to have made the change to Fresh Healthy Vending. I feel it is important for us to ‘Walk the Talk’ and now we are. Many of our parents have shared with us how much they like the choices and that they don’t have to say no to their kids when they want a snack after swimming, basketball, gymnastics, etc.”
Patrick Connelly, senior director of the Middletown, CT, YMCA likes the healthier options and the increase in revenue from sales from the machines. Another plus is the machines take debit and credit cards. This makes it easy for customers to use whether they have cash or a card.
With over 100 locations from Alabama to Wisconsin, Fresh Healthy Vending continues to find ways to get their healthy vending machines in convenient snacking locations. The result over time, a healthier nation.
