"Brevity is the soul of wit'" says Shakespeare; As well, Roger's style is no nonsense and to the point. Sometimes consoling, sometimes controversial, yet always mentally stimulating

For the author, modern technology bids humanity to go forward, as it rightly should. The call of God, conversely, is and ever will be a call to return to the old paths. In spirituals, the true is the tried and proven. God is forever calling the wanderer back to himself.

Roger further contends that there is no human answer, for our many ills. The downward spiral we are currently witnessing will not reverse itself. Divine intervention is imperative. Moreover, spiritual renewal has birthed recoveries in our nation's past.

Roger offers believers and nonbelievers alike a wider, and deeper look into major Bible truths. He makes use of poetry and the written word to illustrate important facets of Divine truth. He writes in the preface: "The Scriptures tell us that we must be changed and become as little children if we are, indeed, to enter the kingdom of God. This required change is voiced by John: 'You must be born again'. Paul describes it as 'a new creation'. It is described in the Old Testament scriptures as 'a new heart, and a new spirit'." We must be changed from within if we expect to see change without.

"I Longed To Gathered You" is a powerful reminder, to readers, of their desperate need of God. "Others boast of purity!1 will boast my need of Thee." Rogers's hope is that God's grace might be, once more, poured out upon our bewildered nation. He did it in the past, he can do it again.

His work is interspersed throughout with classical art, and woodcuts, as well as quotes by history's great and good men.
America! America! God shed His grace on thee!
