Dr. Vonda Wright, MD, Joins Steel City Running Club Lecture Series and Introduces “UmuvU”

Vonda Wright, MD., a board certified orthopedic surgeon, is leading the “muvment” to get Americans off the couch, and moving to a better “you.” On January 26, Dr. Wright is a guest speaker at the Steel City Running Club Lecture Series, at the Marathon office, 810 River Ave, Pittsburgh, focusing on “Total Body Cross Training” and her UmuvU program.

Dr. Wright’s “Total Body Cross Training Program” (TBCXT) for Runners is the official training program for the Pittsburgh Marathon, sponsored by Dick’s Sporting Goods. Her speaking at the Marathon office is just one of many speaking engagements that will help to launch the marathon training season. It’s the platform for also introducing her UmuvU (you move you) program, set to inspire many about the benefits of a healthier, moving body.

“The ‘muvment’ is simple. It’s all about getting, or staying active,” said Dr. Wright. “Yesterday I walked out of the operating room, tired but exhilarated! Six patients later, we restored their mobility and put them on a track to get out of pain. My hope for these patients is to provide them with education and training that will ultimately help them gain strength, and greater movement.”

"It’s a fact: if you add only 20 minutes of mobility to your usual day of sitting in the office, in the car, on the couch, you can decrease your chances of early death by 20%. This is a start but not the whole story,” added Dr. Wright.

Dr. Vonda Wright, the mobility doctor, is one of only a few female Orthopaedic surgeons in the country. She specializes in sports medicine and in the powerful and growing population of athletes over 40.
