“Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world” – Marilyn Monroe.
‘I Luv Shoes’ is a playful tune written about every woman's never ending quest for the perfect pair of shoes. The introduction of the song is a teaser suggesting a woman’s love for a man. However, the twist is it’s all about a woman’s true love – shoes!
The video was filmed on location at the world famous Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto. The Bata Shoe Museum’s Senior Curator, Elizabeth Semmelhack (author of ‘Heights of Fashion: History of Elevated Shoes’) and Rosmarie Gadzovski, Head of Communications, provided the incredible collection of women’s footwear referenced in the song.
“I lived every woman's fantasy, surrounded by the most fabulous designer shoes in the world”, says Irene. “We were fortunate to have had exclusive access to the vaulted archives and to the Roger Viviér exhibition, dedicated to one of the 20th century's most important shoe designers”.
The video is tongue-in-cheek; Carrie Bradshaw meets Marilyn Monroe. “What a blast it was to wear eyelashes, the gowns and the ‘bling’ to play the part of the ultimate Shoe Diva”, exclaims Irene. “Shot on a shoe-string budget (pardon the pun), the video captures the glamour and brilliance of legendary designers all shoe-lovers will adore”.
When asked about her jazz roots, Irene commented, “People tend to think of jazz as sophisticated, however jazz was the original pop music back in the day and yes, jazz can be fun. ‘I Luv Shoes’ is a bit of a departure from things I have done in the past and I thought it was time to let loose a little. This song is definitely 'Confessions of a Shoeaholic!' How many shoes do I own? Never enough”, laughs Irene.
‘I Luv Shoes’ is a universal theme and has great potential to go viral, as women around the world will certainly get a kick out of this. ‘I Luv Shoes’ is the perfect fit!
