Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 24, 2013
New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation recently hosted motivational speaker Scott Greenberg to speak at an employee recognition day for 250 staff members working in IT Strategic Communications & Interactive Support Services. The event took place on January 16, 2013 in Harlem Hospital’s Martin Luther King auditorium. Over 250 IT professions were in attendance.
Greenberg’s presentation was entitled “Internal Mastery, External Results.” The talk focused on how to heighten one’s personal and professional performance through mental discipline and an emphasis on service. He also took time to acknowledge the critical role IT professionals play in New York City’s public health system.
“As a former cancer patient, I often thanked my doctors and nurses,” says Greenberg, a 20-year survivor of lymphoma. “It never occurred to me to thank IT staff. Medical professionals can’t fully serve patients’ needs without the technology and information provided by enormous behind-the-scenes support. You are among many of the unsung heroes in healthcare.”
Greenberg stressed to the group that while they may not get the public recognition they deserve, they must find satisfaction and meaning in the service they provide.
Outside motivational speakers like Greenberg are often brought in by organizations to provide fresh perspective and encouragement. Others speakers at this event included Dr. Thomas Handler, Research Director at Gartner, and Karen Parrish, VP WW Industries at IBM.
New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation is the largest municipal healthcare system in the United States, serving more than 1.3 million patients.
