The South Sound area is the new home to one of Seattle’s most recognized eye doctors, Dr. Niraj Patel, MD. He brings over 15 years and 15,000 cases worth of experience in performing complex eye surgery to the Pacific Northwest Eye team. Dr. Patel is nationally recognized for his experience in cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery, and is the Tacoma area’s only full time fellowship trained specialist with a background in corneal procedures. He is a specialist in both LASIK and PRK laser vision correction surgeries, and has had the honor of becoming the first Western Washington surgeon to be certified in Visian™ Implantable Contact Lenses (ICL).

Both [Seattle Metropolitan Magazine and Seattle Magazine have ranked him as one of the areas “Top Doctors” consecutively for eight years. He is a professional member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American College of Surgeons, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Washington Academy of Eye Physicians, and the Washington State Medical Society.

Dr. Patel is both a Phi Beta Kappa high honors graduate from the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts and an Alpha Omega Alpha honors graduate of University of Michigan Medical School. Following the completion of his degree in medicine, Dr. Patel became a resident at nationally ranked non-profit Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He then completed a fellowship in Corneal and Refractive Surgery at University of Utah’s John Moran Eye Center, and has been a part of several cornea and refractive surgery research projects. In addition to extensive schooling and practice, Dr. Patel has both lectured and taught nationally to peers and residents.
