Julius Kazen has been named director of hotel operations at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. In his new position, Kazen is responsible for overseeing the front desk, housekeeping, bell desk, doorman, wardrobe, public areas, PBX, spa and recreation departments at South Florida’s award-winning resort and entertainment destination. His appointment was announced by Phil Madow, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino president.
Kazen brings more than 30 years of hospitality and management excellence from high profile gaming destinations to Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. He joins South Florida’s premiere gaming property from the Spa Resort Casino operated by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians in Palm Springs, California where he held the same position for more than six years overseeing all hotel operations and a staff of 250 employees. While at the Spa Resort Casino, Kazen was a member of the executive committee overseeing the tourism budget for the City of Palm Springs and was a member of the Hospitality Industry Business Council overseeing the activities of the Coachella Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau. During his tenure, the Mayor of Palm Springs proclaimed Oct 18, 2012 as Julius Kazen Day in the City of Palm Springs.
Prior to that, Kazen spent 31 illustrious years with the storied Las Vegas Hilton in a variety of capacities. As vice president for hotel operations for five years, Kazen was responsible for all rooms division departments, security, facilities, public space, front desk, housekeeping, meetings and conventions, spa-pool, construction, PBX, valet, retail, and leasing operations including departmental capital expenses and budgets. For four years prior to that, he oversaw occupancy strategies and various construction projects as assistant vice president of hotel operations. As executive assistant manager, he directed forecasting for conference sales, convention bookings and tour and travel. Kazen also served as director of front office operations, assistant hotel manager and a variety of other crucial roles which provided hands-on knowledge of the resorts industry.
Kazen is a past president of the Palm Springs Hospitality Association and a past vice chair of the board of directors for the Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau. He is a charter member of the Public Relations Student Society of America and has graduated courses in public speaking and hospitality excellence from Dale Carnegie and the University of Houston, respectively.
Kazen received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Public Relations with a minor in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.
