Avid 1960's poster collector Andrew Hawley, from Vintage Rock Posters, announces his search for original Rolling Stones Louisville Memorial Auditorium boxing style concert posters. According to Hawley, "The Rolling Stones second tour in the U.S. was in 1964. The Stones were not well know and their popularity was overshadowed by The Beatles that year. Many of shows, including the one at Louisville Memorial Auditorium were not well attended. This all changed in 1965 with the release of their mega hits Satisfaction and Get Off My Cloud."
Hawley continues, "The poster was printed by Murray Poster in New York City and measures 14x22 inches. This classic boxing style tour blank was also used to advertise the Rolling Stones shows in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Sacramento. About 200 posters were printed for each gig and were hung in local establishments such as barber shops, grocery stores and department stores to advertise the upcoming concert. The print runs varied depending on the size of the city and how much advertising was needed to get the word out."
Hawley is willing to pay $5,000 cash for this or any original Rolling Stones Louisville Memorial Auditorium boxing style concert posters or other Rolling Stones concerts between 1963 and 1966. Any condition would be accepted. Please call 310-346-1965 or email andrew at vintageconcertposterbuyer.com.
