ReportPlan.com says their fourth quarter results show that more and more people are learning the value of looking up public information in order to protect themselves.
“We are proud to report that the number of personal lookups handled by ReportPlan.com were up 27 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012,” said company spokesman Josh Fraser. “This demonstrates that consumers see the inherent value of our service.”
ReportPlan provides people, for a small fee, with the ability to instantly look up publicly available information on people and perform vehicle history research. The public information often includes criminal history checks, background checks, and other information available under the Freedom of Information Act.
“People are starting to realize that you can't simply trust your instincts when it comes to letting them become a part of your life,” Fraser said. “You need to make the effort to check them out to ensure that they are not criminals or sex offenders. This allows you to not only keep yourself safe, but also to protect your loved ones.”
Fraser said he believed the holiday season was one of the reasons for the uptick in personal lookups.
“This is the time of year when people are introducing their new boyfriends and girlfriends to their family members,” Fraser said. “It's understandable that parents and other loved ones would want to get to know a little bit more about the people that may become a part of their lives.”
Fraser says he expects that as more and more people understand the value of personal lookups, business should continue to increase throughout the first quarter of 2013.
