Recent Introduction by Venetian Builders, Inc., Miami, of Wide French Doors Starts Trend as More Sunroom, Screen Enclosure Buyers Opt for Big Openings

Venetian Builders, Inc., recently introduced French Doors, sometimes with doubled, custom-built, extra-wide screen doors, which are finding their way into more sunrooms and screen enclosures, Venetian Builders, Inc., President Christopher Noe said today. Families find the doors convenient for moving outdoor furniture in and out of enclosed areas and for children who need room to run, Noe said.

If people use a sunroom or patio enclosure for entertaining, or entertain there and by a pool or on a deck, traffic in and out is greatly eased with the wide opening.

Recently introduced French doors for sunrooms and patio enclosures are moving up the list of options that buyers of aluminum additions are requesting, Christopher Noe, president of Venetian Builders, Inc., Miami, said today.

Most of the reasons customers give for including French doors in a residential sunroom or screen enclosure are practical, Noe said.

“That big opening comes in handy, and more people are discovering how useful it can be,” Noe said.

The doors, which are hinged at the sides, do not need a center post to close securely, Noe said. That makes the opening unusually wide.

Venetian Builders is the leading installer of custom-designed and custom-built sunrooms, patio enclosures, patio covers and screen pool enclosures in South Florida.

For homeowners, the wide doors make it easy to move furniture in and out of the enclosed space, Noe said.

“From a purely practical standpoint, it becomes easy with the wide openings to move poolside or deck furniture inside in the event of nasty weather,” Noe said.

Homeowners who sometimes move their grill or tables from a screened enclosure to an open deck find it easier to do that too with the wider doors, said Nick Napfliotis, production manager for Venetian Builders.

"There’s no longer a need to maybe tilt a table at an awkward angle to make it fit through a narrow opening,” Nafpliotis said.

The doors also enhance entertaining, Noe said his customers have told him.

“If people use a sunroom or patio enclosure for entertaining , or entertain there and by a pool or on a deck, traffic in and out is greatly eased with the wide openings,” Noe said. “The hosts like that, and guests trying to balance a plate of food and a drink find it pretty helpful, too.”

The double doors also open up play space, Nafpliotis added.

“Many say it’s just so much easier for the children to run from one area to another,” he said.

Napfliotis said he’s surprised at how many customers are choosing French doors since Venetian Builders introduced them toward the end of last year. “A lot of customers are eager to take the option,” Napfliotis said.
