Hudson Valley Lighting® premier U.S. manufacturer of classic and transitional lighting fixtures with roots in decorative design presents one of its largest and most prolific collections yet. The 2013 debut incorporates a large selection of individual lighting families and products, surpassing expectations with exquisite pendants, chandeliers, sconces and flush-mount fixtures as well as floor and table lamps.
“Lighting is so much more than a functional necessity, creating warmth and depth at the office and at home, altering our moods and the way we live," said David Littman, CEO/founder of Littman Brands, the parent company of Hudson Valley Lighting. “Our new collections go the extra mile, offering distinct looks that rival 19th century antiques, but are manufactured with 21st century ingenuity."
Hudson Valley Lighting’s 2013 collections adhere to the brand’s mantra of: impeccable craftsmanship and fine detailing in beautifully-made designs. Venturing into new territory are four historically-inspired, decorative LED lights, a first for the brand. Myriad sconces, pedants and chandeliers feature unexpected enhancements such as silk shades, textured glass, crystals and exceptional casting. Finally, 16 new table and floor lamps showcase exceptional styling, incorporating wood, honed marble, soft, pleated shades, that exude comfort and luxury.
Leading the way is the Lansing LED pendant. Paying homage to the 1930’s when factories replaced workbench-mounted lamps with more efficient overhead fixtures, Lansing elevates with industrial chic design. The fixture defies tradition by incorporating 12 1.2 watt LED bulbs, making it an optimal choice for residential or commercial settings. Also in LED, the elongated cylindrical Sheridan sconce commands attention. Minimal detailing and a handsome backplate make it an optimal choice for the bath or flanking a vanity.
The noteworthy Hastings pendant offers a departure in direction. Noted for its circular shape, a lavish span of gathered silk enwraps the pendant. The shade’s soft pleating is balanced by textured reeded metal arms.
With its ornamental dome, Covington’s unique silhouette is sure to bring definition to any setting. The one-light sconce can be specified in several finishes and the historic theme is carried out further with a period socket holder and on/off switch. The Barker one-light sconce is modeled after period candle light and features a shiny metal back plate which adds depth and distinction.
Rounding out the wall sconces, Clyde’s graceful arm bows slightly, marrying a cut crystal bobeche with a rounded, textured cast metal backplate.
Standouts in portable lighting include the Cité Bouillon, which is modeled after period table lamps that used candles and featured a shade that adjusts accordingly as the tapers burned. This version offers a stylish re-interpretation of classic French design. Elegantly proportioned and subtly adorned, Thayer evokes a timeless ode to classical architecture. The lamp’s opal glass cylinder references a Doric column while smooth cast metalwork adds subtle detailing.
Offered as a floor or table lamp, Manheim marries natural materials to thoughtful forms in a composed mid-century type design. The cast tripod base brings symmetry to the smooth drum shade. Eastport draws inspiration from the turn-of-the-century, pairing elegance and functionality. Joined by cast knob-and-collar adjusters, the twin column lamp is fully height adjustable. This adaptability makes for an attractive and thoughtful interior addition as a floor or table lamp.
