What could have been a minor scrape with a guard rail last week became a major accident involving three vehicles and one death, according to Fox News Atlanta. Attorney Greg Stokes, who focuses much of his practice on car accident cases, expects that the crash will lead to law suits.

Stated in the article from Fox News Atlanta titled, "Fatal wreck closed I-285 in southwest Atlanta," the crash began on Interstate 285 around 9 p.m. when a sedan struck the rail and lost control. Veering back into the lane, it hit a pickup truck while a semi truck swerved around them and crashed into the ditch. The driver of the original car died from his injuries. His passenger and the other drivers were taken to the hospital and survived according to Fox News. The article reported that the collision with the pickup truck caused the sedan to catch fire, which may have been the cause of the driver's death.

“This kind of accident is tragic but unfortunately all too common,” Stokes said. “We frequently see clients who were injured by accidents that could have been very minor, and ended up spiraling out of control.”

“With that many vehicles moving that quickly, there's always a chance for a slight swerve to become fatal,” he added.

The passenger of the sedan was in critical condition after the accident, and the other drivers in stable condition, according to police quoted from Fox News Atlanta.

“Anyone who's injured in a car accident has a chance for compensation under Georgia law,” Stokes said. “Accidents aren't usually accidental. Chances are someone could have reacted better or wasn't paying attention, and that mistake can lead to death or serious injury.”

“It's our job to make sure the victims get the compensation they deserve.”
