According to Smith, the purpose of the interview was to “get some up-to-date and accurate info to the brokerage community regarding the ACA” and how it will affect the health insurance industry. “I think the interview went very well,” Smith said. “I surveyed some key brokers whom I respect to get their input on the questions to ask, which they provided. I followed up with the same brokers and they all felt the interview was very good.”
In the interview, Smith asked Trautwein many important questions about the ACA as well as the role of the NAHU in helping agents during this period of healthcare change. His questions included, “What is the role of the agent in the ACA?”, “What’s affordable about the ACA?”, “What is the HR 1206? Why should agents care?” and “What is the impact for employers under the ACA?”
