The maker of PowerICE™ frozen hydration bars is providing significant contributions to breast cancer awareness and research this month.

The company has become a premium-level sponsor of the 26.2 with Donna Finish Breast Cancer Marathon, which raises much-needed funds for important cancer research, as well as support for those afflicted. The event will take place February 17 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

“The team at PowerICE is committed to promoting health and fitness in any way we can,” said Grant Fenton, the company’s president. “We believe that this marathon is an excellent opportunity to show our support for a wonderful organization. In addition, our innovative product can help participants get the energy and increased levels of endurance they need to perform at their best during the marathon, while replenishing their bodies afterward.”

PowerICE (http://www.powerice.com) offers a revolutionary new way for athletes and active people to get the essential nutrients and electrolytes they need before, during and after a game, race or intense training session. It works by providing individuals with the qualities of frozen hydration and lowering the body’s core temperature, allowing athletes to work harder for longer. A marathon is a natural venue for such a product, and runners and supporters in this event will be introduced to PowerICE™ throughout the weekend.

Since its inception in 2008, the 26.2 with Donna Finish Breast Cancer Marathon and its various sponsors have raised more than $3 million, the majority of those funds going to the Mayo Clinic. As a result, the clinic has been able to establish its world-class Breast Cancer Translational Genomics program. Through its generous contributions, PowerICE is helping continue this legacy of philanthropy.

“PowerICE™ benefits both runners and cancer patients, so our brand and the 26.2 with Donna are a natural match,” said Valerie Brown, Sponsorship Director of the marathon. “PowerICE chose this marathon to nationally debut their product, so we’re incredibly flattered. The company is also donating a huge portion of sales during the event—and all year—to the 26.2 with Donna.”

Sponsorship of the marathon is just one way that PowerICE is distinguishing itself in the fight against cancer. Because the product is specifically formulated to be easily digested and give nutritional benefits without the use of caffeine or high-fructose corn syrup, it is ideal for cancer patients undergoing treatment. The frozen bars are commonly used to help ease nausea, while providing vitamin C, potassium and sodium in a gluten-free product.
