Over the course of the past three years, we have concentrated our efforts in Haiti where over half of the population lives on less than $1.25 per day.

Live Beyond (formerly Mobile Medical Disaster Relief) has been mobilized in Haiti since the 2010 earthquake treating over 30,000 patients with medical needs, clean water and nutritional support. To date, the operations have been conducted via mobile clinics conducted by volunteers through week-long missions. According to Dr. David Vanderpool, CEO of Live Beyond, “We have worked in a multitude of countries addressing issues caused by natural and man-made disasters. Over the course of the past three years, we have concentrated our efforts in Haiti, where over half of the population lives on less than $1.25 per day.”
Based upon the far-reaching needs of this region so close to the US border, Live Beyond has launched a base of operation near Thomazeau on the outskirts of Port-Au-Prince. In January, construction began on a sixty-bed housing facility to support weekly volunteer missions of medical and non-medical volunteers. Additionally ground-breaking is scheduled by mid-year for a surgical hospital to provide basic operative procedures in the Thomazeau region where no services are currently available. The hospital will feature a clinical wing to facilitate out-patient services, a three-suite surgical wing, and a forty-bed in-patient hospital to provide extended care. The hospital will also serve as training facility for Haitian medical personnel. Additionally, the Live Beyond base of operation will house an orphanage, secondary school, vocational training center, worship center, and demonstration farm.
Live Beyond (MMDR) began as a response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 with immediate delivery of medical aid and supplies to the affected regions. Since the 2010 Haiti earthquake, MMDR has worked extensively near Port-Au-Prince providing medical care, nutritional support, clean water, and micro-finance. Established as a 501(c)(3) humanitarian organization, MMDR has transitioned its work under a new name, Live Beyond, to reflect a broadened mission as an organization that chooses to Live Beyond ourselves our culture, our borders, and this life so that others can Live Beyond disease, hunger, poverty, and oppression.
