Dr. Mark Deutsch, a plastic surgeon in Atlanta, was interviewed Thursday about a growing trend in his field. According to several news sources, an increasing amount of women in the United Kingdom and in the United States are getting rhinoplasty procedures done to have their noses look like Kate Middleton’s. When asked what his thoughts were on the trend, Deutsch had this to say: “It’s not really that surprising; Kate Middleton has a very feminine nose that perfectly suites her face, and the procedure in general is a popular one because people are very commonly unsatisfied with the appearance of their noses.” Deutsch went on to say that having a specific shape of nose in mind is “like bringing a picture with you when you get your hair cut. Patients don’t always know how to describe what they want; it’s just easier that way.”
This trend in nose reshaping has become well known in recent weeks as more women come out speaking about their inspiration for having the procedure. One woman, 21-year-old Jessica Blaier, was even interviewed on Good Morning America about her reasons for wanting the Dutchess’s nose, which she stated as being that Middleton’s nose is petite and turns up slightly at the end, while Blaier always felt that her own nose was too large, and turned down too much when she smiled. The procedure is even more popular overseas; one British plastic surgery center stated that rhinoplasty done to mimic Middleton’s nose was the most requested procedure at that center last year.
