Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 12, 2013
Atlanta, Feb. 12, 2013—The Atlanta-based global management firm, Afterburner, Inc., was the featured training for 325 Simmons executives at the company’s national meeting last week. The powerful event began with a keynote by Afterburner founder & CEO, Jim “Murph” Murphy. The former F-15 instructor pilot and published author led the audience through his nationally acclaimed Flawless Execution®model, a strategic management process that marries military and business expertise.
Following the keynote, the group broke out into squadrons of 15 during a combat-style experiential learning session known as a Mission Planning ExerciseSM that allowed for immediate application of the model. “Murph” was assisted in the Mission Planning Exercise by a number of Afterburner’s top consultants, including A-10 fighter pilot Julie “Jewels” Hudson, former Blue Angel pilot Scott “Intake” Kartvedt, F/A-18 Hornet fighter pilot Matt "Whiz" Buckely, M1 Abrams Tank Gunner Scott “Gunner” Leonard, 20th Commanding Officer (USS ENTERPRISE) Ron “Beav” Horton, and Brigadier General (ret.) Charles “Chaz” Campbell. The consultants guided the mission exercise which gave attendees the opportunity to complete objectives while combating unforeseen situational threats. The experiential learning aspect solidified the process in the minds of participants while providing vital organizational insight.
The Flawless Execution®model features four corresponding parts that make up the continuous improvement process ofPlan.Brief.Execute.Debrief®.By implementing multiple strategic measures, including the Six Steps of Mission Planning and S.T.E.A.L.T.H. debriefing, organizations can accelerate the identification of opportunities and threats. With a focus on strategic and tactical alignment perfected through thorough planning and debriefing, the Flawless Execution© model allows organizations to address these internal and external factors that can lead to execution gaps.
In over 140 years of operations, Simmons has become one of the top bedding manufacturers in the U.S. It boasts over $1 billion in global sales, and itsBeauty Sleep®model is now one of the top selling beds today. The training gave Simmons leaders the skills needed to implement the communication-based approach in their own divisions.
