Fall River, MA (PRWEB) February 13, 2013
Party Dress Express in Fall River, MA is holding a Prom Dress Drive starting this Valentine’s Day until February 23, 2013. For every Prom dress Party Dress Express sells during those ten days, a dress will be donated to a young women affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Party Dress Express has paired with two amazing charities, “Friends of Multicultural High School” in Brooklyn, NY (Kristin Stelfox, contact person) and Where-To-Turn.org (Dennis McKeon, contact person). These two charities will distribute the prom dresses to ten high schools impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
Donna Holland, owner of Party Dress Express, has donated Prom dresses for many years for those in need but this year she wanted to work specifically with young woman affected by Hurricane Sandy. “It just seemed like the right thing to do. When you work with teens year round to find the perfect Prom dress, you know how much this night means to them. So we found it heartbreaking to think about young women who lost their homes, have been displaced or whose parents just couldn’t put money towards a Prom dress because of Hurricane Sandy. So we put our heads together and came up with this Prom Dress Drive... we love the idea of teens helping other teens, that’s how we came up with the ‘Buy one and we’ll donate one’ idea.”
Teacher Amanda Dulaney, who has teamed up with Kristin Stelfox to help distribute Prom dresses that Party Dress Express will donate, had this to say, "I have students that are underprivileged. My kids are inner city, and they've actually donated to the Red Cross, they've done blood drives, they've done coat drives. Plus our building got kids from the Rockaways who were displaced. My kids have been very generous and this is a surprise for them. We haven't told them yet." Source: (http://sachem.patch.com/articles/can-you-part-with-an-old-prom-dress)
Everyday between February 14, 2013 - February 23, 2013, Party Dress Express will fill a rack with dresses to be donated to the ten schools, based on how many are sold. They will be on display so young women can see the difference they are making with their Prom dress purchase. “They are truly making someone’s life better and we’re proud for Party Dress Express to be a part of that,” Holland said.
NOTE: If you would like to cover our Prom Dress Drive, please let us know. We would love to take the time to speak with you and help you find a teen that is participating (buying a dress so one can be donated) for you to speak with. Press inquiries: jessica(at)partydressexpress(dot)com.
