Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) February 15, 2013
La Peer Health Systems is pleased to announce the launch of a brand new website, OrbitalMD.com, for a sub-division of the Beverly Hills surgery center devoted to orbital conditions and trauma, known as the Orbital Surgery Center of Excellence.
The Orbital Surgery Center of Excellence is purely focused on providing education about traumas, diseases, and conditions that affect the orbital area including the midface, bone, muscle, and tissue surrounding the eye socket, as well as the eyeball itself. This area is highly compact and extremely detailed, requiring a highly specialized team of surgeons to provide the most accurate results possible.
This is a joint venture of the Ophthalmology and Plastic Surgery Departments at La Peer Health Systems. The goal is to educate patients about the life changing procedures the Orbital Surgery Center of Excellence has to offer and to provide patients with the most advanced orbital treatment options, including a unique team approach.
Our doctors want every patient to be fully educated in their options when seeking reconstructive surgery as a result of trauma or diseases, such as Graves’ Disease, a hyper-thyroid condition that can cause bulging eyes. Although this is a thyroid condition diagnosed by an otolaryngologist, an oculoplastic surgeon is best fit to perform ocular decompression, treating the appearance of bulging eyes.
"For many reconstructive surgery cases involving the orbital area, you aren't just dealing with one specific issue," said Director Mehryar (Ray) Taban, MD, FACS. "You may need to involve ENTs to treat sinus damage, ophthalmologists for damage to the eyeball and facial plastic surgeons to make sure the face appears balanced and symmetrical after surgery."
This new website is focused on providing information like that and more. There is another purpose to the Orbital Surgery Center of Excellence. A major part of La Peer Health Systems’ mission is to provide the highest quality in patient care. That involves giving back to the community and performing cutting edge medical research. The Orbital Surgery Center of Excellence accomplishes both of those goals by donating a portion of the proceeds to the CRISP Foundation.
The Children’s Rehabilitation Institute and Surgery Program or CRISP Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to providing the children of Guatemala surgical and health care services free of charge. Surgeons and other medical professionals of the CRISP Foundation transform children’s lives. Whether they have a cleft palate or cleft lip, need reconstructive surgery relating to burns, or need eyelid surgery to see again, we can help by donating to the CRISP Foundation. In addition to donating funds to the CRISP Foundation, Dr. Taban is also a volunteer member of the CRISP Foundation Surgical Team that travels to Central American twice a year to surgically repair deformities in children.
“At the Orbital Surgery Center of Excellence, we understand that not everyone has access to top level health care and want a chance to change lives around the world,” says Dr. Taban.
The Orbital Surgery Center of Excellence is headed up by it’s director Mehryar (Ray) Taban, MD, FACS. There are 9 other equally talented doctors at the Orbital Surgery Center of Excellence – three of which are facial plastic surgeons, three ophthalmologists, and three otolaryngologists. The facial plastic surgeons include Babak Azizzadeh, MD, FACS; Guy Massry, MD; and Carlo Honrado, MD, FACS. The ophthalmologists include David Savar, MD; David J. Parks, MD; and Robert Sacks, MD. Finally, the otolaryngologists include Michel Babajanian, MD, FACS; Babak Larian, MD, FACS; and Mani Zadeh, MD, FACS.
