For us, it’s all about helping people meet their energy-conservation priorities – affordably and with minimum complexity. And our products stand at the center of that effort.
Encino, Calif. (PRWEB) February 19, 2013
In a move that extends the range and capabilities of its home-automation products for energy management,Universal Devices, Inc. (UDI) today rolled out its INSTEON/Z-Wave solution – the alpha version. The solution adds new functionality to UDI’s ISY994i Series which is already well established in residential and commercial environments. Now, UDI product users can remotely control a broader array of INSTEON/Z-Wave devices and appliances than was previously possible. From thermostats and switches, to dimmers, door locks and much more, the augmented products enable a mosaic of interconnectivity, with each device contributing to a unified goal: optimizing energy efficiency throughout the structure – home or business.
Today’s launch follows UDI’s co-appearance with the Z-Wave Alliance at DistribuTECH – the utility industry’s leading smart-grid conference and exposition held last month in San Diego. While there, UDI displayed its latest home automation energy-management products. The devices are playing a key role in enabling smart-grid-related activities like load shedding, demand response, real-time power usage and price reporting. They’re valued by consumers for enabling powerful energy conservation and control in a simple off-the-shelf package that’s autonomous, automated, agnostic and affordable.
The new product enhancements underscore UDI’s priority to make its automation technologies accessible to the broadest range of devices on the market, worldwide. By tapping into Z-Wave’s global footprint, new markets and opportunities are unfolding for UDI products. In turn, Z-Wave device users gain access to ISY994i Series energy-management features, including out-of-the-box support for OpenADR 2.0a and SEP 1.1 standards, among other must-have features.
UDI’s CTO, Chris Jahn, called the augmentations a key milestone on UDI’s product roadmap. More importantly, he says, the move is an essential component of UDI’s strategy to catalyze further innovation within the Home Automation Network (HAN) ecosystem so that customers have broad choices. “For us, it’s all about helping people meet their energy-conservation priorities – affordably and with minimum complexity. And our products stand at the center of that effort. We also recognize that there’s a vast community of developers with inventive ideas that can bring added power to our collective efforts. That’s why we offer a variety of ways to help developers create applications or integrate the ISY with an existing application or portal,” said Jahn.
