UNCF (United Negro College Fund), the nation’s largest and most effective minority education organization, is holding its annual National Alumni Council/National Pre-Alumni Council and Institute for Capacity Building Leadership Conference February 13 – 17 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Leadership Conference brings together presidents and other leaders of UNCF member historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), their students and alumni, and the leadership of UNCF to celebrate the successes of the past year and to share innovative solutions to the challenges faced by UNCF and its member institutions.
Highlights of the conference include:
Friday, February 15, 7:00 p.m.: UNCF Alumni Recognition Banquet UNCF president and CEO Dr. Michael L. Lomax will speak and present UNCF’s highest alumni award, the Legacy Award, to Dr. Calvin Mackie of Tulane University, a graduate of Morehouse College and Georgia Tech University. Outstanding Young Alumni honorees and new members of the Alumni Hall of Honor will be announced.
Saturday, February 16, 10 A.M.-12 P.M.: UNCF Empower Me Tour Presented by Wells Fargo: Celebrities will discuss their personal educational journeys and the importance of making a college education the foundation of future success. Actor-comedian Kim Coles, actor Lamman Rucker, and social entrepreneur Tai Beauchamp will host the Keeping It Real panel.
