Automatic Improv called Relapse Theatre ‘home’ for almost five years. Unfortunately, Relapse was forced to close in December. Since then, Automatic Improv has been performing at multiple venues throughout Atlanta, while searching for a new spot to resume their regular Friday night show. “The closure of Relapse was eased by the theatre and comedy community’s support,” said Bill Worley, Automatic Improv’s Managing Director. “We were able to take our time and find the perfect fit. Fabrefaction Theatre has an amazing space, in a hip location, with a passionate staff.”
Automatic Improv will begin their weekly Friday night shows at Fabrefaction Theatre at 10:30PM starting Friday February 22, 2013. “Every Friday from now until life throws us another curve-ball,” says Sarah Simmons Turner, Automatic Improv’s Marketing Director. “I’m confident that this partnership will be a long and successful one for both Automatic and Fabrefaction.”
Automatic Improv has been making Atlanta audiences crack up since 2008. Based on Audience suggestions, Automatic creates hilarious, rapid-fire, completely made-up comedy. “If you’ve never seen Improv before, it’s like Whose line is it Anyway? but without FCC regulations,” says Worley. “You won't see the same show twice, but you will double over with laughter!” Shows contain adult humor, but mature teens accompanied by an adult are welcome. Automatic Improv also teaches classes and produces filmed sketches.
Fabrefaction Theatre Company is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization established to provide performance opportunities for artists of all ages. The company evolved from a theatre ministry created by Christina and Evelyn Hoff in 2004. Since its inception Fabrefaction has produced over thirty shows, including two original works and fifteen educational productions.
Automatic Improv Shows at Fabrefaction Theatre are for adult audiences only; however mature teens accompanied by a parent are welcome. Beer, wine and soft drinks are available for purchase. There is complimentary valet parking shared with Miller Union restaurant (at the corner of Brady & 10th) Street, as well as street parking.
