Professor Vincenzo Busico of the Federico II University of Naples, in collaboration with Freeslate, Inc., the leading provider of high throughput research solutions, today announced the launch of HTExplore. HTExplore will utilize Freeslate high throughput research (HTR) tools to provide research services for polyolefin and organometallic catalysis research. Services will range from outsourced catalyst discovery and/or optimization to consultative, specialized training to lab staff interested in conducting high throughput catalyst research in their own labs. Additionally, HTExplore will serve as a test lab and demonstration center for Freeslate.

Freeslate has supplied HTExplore with a Parallel Pressure Reactor (which adds to the PPR already in operation at LSP) and a Rapid GPC. The PPR, which facilitates up to 48 experiments per run, is designed for the screening of organometallic catalysts under realistic process conditions in a protected glovebox environment. Supporting the PPR is the Rapid GPC which allows for the assessment of key polymer properties. Combined, the system can accelerate the entire polyolefin research cycle and will enable researchers to make dramatic gains in productivity and innovation.

HTExplore s.r.l. is a privately held limited liability company established in January 2013 as an Academic Spin-off of the Federico II University of Naples (Italy). The company, originated from the Laboratory of Stereoselective Polymerizations (LSP), a research structure of the Department of Chemical Sciences directed by Prof. Vincenzo Busico, aims to provide state-of-the-art High Throughput Experimentation (HTE) services in organometallic catalysis, with a focus on the HTE fine-tuning and optimization of olefin polymerization catalysts and processes. In the start-up phase, HTExplore will be incubated in the Department of Chemical Sciences of the home University. HTExplore has employed its own, highly trained, specialized lab staff, and has dedicated HTE platforms provided by Freeslate in the framework of a strategic alliance.
