"Point of Presence was my chance to expose, in an entertaining way, the fragility of our IT infrastructure."
Denver, CO (PRWEB) February 21, 2013
Award-winning Denver author and resident Rick Clyne has published Point of Presence, a thriller whose relevancy is amplified by the international cyber-terrorism and cyber-espionage attacks that make headlines on a daily basis. The fast-paced debut novel not only gives readers both a riveting story of deception, intrigue, and murder, but let’s them better understand the weaknesses and fragility of the Internet, which we have become dependent on as the indispensable foundation of our digital civilization.
“A decade of working in the network security industry opened my eyes,” says author Clyne. “Quite frankly, I found it alarming. Point of Presence was my chance to expose, in an entertaining way, the fragility of our IT infrastructure. There are an unlimited number of attack vectors that terrorists can exploit. I chose to focus on one that doesn’t get a lot of attention--attacks originating from inside the network infrastructure.”
A large part of the appeal of Point of Presence is its use of the outsider’s perspective. The novel’s protagonist and narrator Tom Corcoran, a former Wall Street commodities trader, wants only to find ex-flame Kelly Ulrich, whose mysterious disappearance comes in the wake of the disintegration of her marriage to an eccentric and egotistical network security guru. As Corcoran is pulled deeper into the violent and twisting plot, he is forced to understand the implications of a diabolical and deadly cyber-attack. The general reader journeys with Corcoran as he comes to terms with the magnitude of the threat--a threat that could destroy the U.S. economy and cost Corcoran, and his loved ones, their lives.
Point of Presence is available in ebook format from all major online retailers such as Amazon, the Apple iBookstore, Barnes & Noble, Sony, Kobo, Baker & Taylor, Gardners, and Copia.
