Medzo has become one of the tools we now have in our tool bag,” Gold said. “We use Medzo not only to find unknown local suppliers, but to also search nationally to find potential bidders for RFPs. The links on Medzo to supplier websites are very useful.

Detroit Medical Center, a network of hospitals and patient care facilities, is now using Vendormate’s Medzo™ solution as a tool to find potential new vendors and a method to learn more about products and services from existing suppliers.

“Medzo is the Google of the healthcare industry,” said Rich Gold, Director of Procurement for Detroit Medical Center. “We have found both new suppliers and suppliers we had forgotten about. In doing some Medzo searches, we have even learned about services that existing vendors offer that we were unaware of.”

Medzo is an online network launched by Vendormate® four months ago to connect healthcare organizations and qualified vendors that provide hospitals with everything from basic medical supplies to innovative solutions to improve patient outcomes and control costs.

“Medzo has become one of the tools we now have in our tool bag,” Gold said. “We use Medzo not only to find unknown local suppliers, but to also search nationally to find potential bidders for RFPs. The links on Medzo to supplier websites are very useful.”

Detroit Medical Center traces its roots back to 1868. It is a leading academically integrated system in metropolitan Detroit and the largest healthcare provider in southeast Michigan. Detroit Medical Center has more than 2,000 licensed beds and 3,000 affiliated physicians. Its facilities include the DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan, DMC Hutzel Women’s Hospital, DMC Cardiovascular Institute and DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan.

Gold continued, “Like other healthcare providers, Detroit Medical Center has to carefully balance costs and the need to purchase the best quality products. Medzo makes it easier to keep tabs on new suppliers in the market and find who is offering a wide range of supplies that the hospital needs.”

“We always want to ensure we are getting the best quality products at the best price points,” Gold said. “Medzo is an easy search tool that covers a broad spectrum of suppliers. It is easy to understand and searchable in many ways.”

Medzo’s sophisticated online service enables purchase decision-makers to search a deep pool of credentialed suppliers, delivering clinical and operational information, while shortening buying cycles. Healthcare buyers can quickly search with Medzo and find the best vendor solutions from both small innovative vendors and large vendors with under-marketed products and services.

“We are seeing hospitals use Medzo to get a better understanding of the capabilities of both existing and new suppliers,” said Chris Luoma, Vice President of Business Development at Vendormate. “The fact is, for many suppliers it is extremely difficult in today’s environment to get access to the right purchase decision-makers. It can take a long time and be a very expensive, inefficient process. Medzo’s search capabilities mean qualified, credentialed vendors can now reach buyers more effectively than ever before.”

Thousands of healthcare vendors selling supplies, equipment and services have already started to build out Medzo storefronts and a large number of healthcare systems, hospitals and medical providers are using the Medzo marketplace. Vendors can leverage their Medzo storefront to re-purpose existing clinical-operational case studies, research papers and other high-value content. This allows hospitals and other healthcare facilities to evaluate potential suppliers.

Access to Medzo is free for hospitals, healthcare systems and other medical providers. All vendor companies participating in the Vendormate Credential Manager network have a free basic listing in Medzo. With an annual subscription to Medzo, vendors can deliver richer information to qualified decision-makers.
