Stafford, TX (PRWEB) February 22, 2013
Rosalyn Summerville Whitaker, a Houston area trucking and logistics professional, has written a book detailing her life-threatening experience with diabetes, which included numerous surgeries. As a warning, and to motivate others to take the disease seriously, the book, titled, Diabetes, Don’t Lose Sight is due out in March.
On Nov. 28, 2011 Whitaker’s life took a drastic turn, and she learned how frightening diabetes could be. Although Whitaker was diagnosed 20 years prior, the diagnosis was not the problem, it was not heeding the doctor’s advice and taking diabetes seriously. One of the complications of diabetes includes diabetic eye disease, which can cause severe vision loss or blindness. The National Eye Institute recommends that diabetics should have a routine eye exam even if there have been no symptoms of diabetic eye disease.
The IDA claims that 50 percent of people with diabetes are unaware that they have the disease. Whitaker hopes her cautionary tale helps others realize how living with the disease can be manageable. She attributes her success to having a strong faith in God. To order a copy please visit Whitaker’s website, or call (832)646-0240.
