Department store chain Curacao presented a free Social Media Workshop for its community partners in Tucson, Arizona in an effort to show how the platforms can be used successfully. The Social Media Workshop, attended by educators and community outreach organizations, was held to keep attendees up to date on the latest social media tools and the various ways to obtain and engage fans. A Community Assistance Forum was held that provided information about various donation programs that Curacao is offering for the Tucson community.
Digital marketing expert Katie Main was the speaker at the Social Media Workshop, educating attendees about today’s top social media websites, as well as how to determine which platforms work best for specific target audiences. Ms. Main also spoke on how school districts can integrate social media in their curriculum as a way to engage students and teach them about technology.
Additionally, Curacao presenters outlined the requirements on how an organization can register with Curacao in order to participate in the “Community Assistance Program” (CAP). Organizations are encouraged to refer low income families they may know who are lacking basic home necessities such as refrigerators, stoves, beds, dining sets, sofas, dressers, or cribs. Families will be assisted within a 10 mile radius of any Curacao store.
Hosting these seminars is another example of Curacao’s community outreach events in the Tucson area. Previous community engagements in Southern Arizona include joining forces with the Teletón USA Foundation to raise donations for underprivileged populations in Tucson’s local communities, and Curacao’s ongoing work with the Children’s Hospital of Tucson.
